End of Year Letter
Dear Colleagues, Parents and Friends of ILE Al Khobar Female College
We come to the end of another incredible, and very busy College year. And what a year it has been! I am so proud to be able to serve the wonderful students here, and the entire ILE community – Thank you for all you do to make coming to work such a pleasure for all of us who are privileged to work here.
Academically, this has been a stellar year. We obviously still await the results of our external examinations. However, in terms of distance travelled, and looking back at a College that needed so much work two years ago, we are sure that our results will be positive. Indeed, our recent Institutional Review confirmed that we are heading in the right direction, and offer some stunning aspects to our curriculum, including teaching and learning, as well as student well-being.
Our commitment is to be the highest achieving College in the kingdom, and we are obviously speaking as a College that is proud to be non-selective in our admissions. We believe in the progress of everyone… be that our exceptional achievers who will doubtless go into employment, or those who simply achieve beyond their wildest dreams – That is the best part of the job!
I do not intend to repeat the details of everything I have written in my previous communications to you, about the many facets of life in our ILE family. Suffice to say, that it is always busy, and our students, and teachers are always inspiring. Over the last few weeks or so, we have seen this once again in so many ways. The Prize giving ceremonies, as ever, provided a very fitting end to the year, as we celebrated the academic achievement of so many Vocational students, but also saw the huge support that Teachers give to the empowerment and life of the school. The wide and varied extra-curricular activities have been an absolute joy to behold – the enthusiasm of the students, and the commitment of teachers has been mesmerising.
Please also keep an eye on our website for up-to-date news on:
- Our Results Day planned between the 11th and 13th June
- Admissions and Interviews ongoing throughout summer from the 28th May
One of my final acts of the term was to present charity funds to the Saudi Ovarian Cancer Society, dedicated to raising awareness of the disease amongst women of all backgrounds and ages. A sum of 5.000 SAR was handed to them. Thank you so much for your generosity in supporting the event – there is no doubt that it will make a difference.
We know that the significant strengths we now have academically need to continue to grow, week on week, month on month and year on year, and we must not relax our efforts in this aspect. However, in the key areas concerning learning, we need everyone’s support in ensuring that 100% student attendance is the norm moving forwards, and that students are supported to improve their timekeeping, with all instances of lateness and absenteeism being challenged.
We could not achieve what we do without your support; we definitely get it wrong sometimes and we are committed to just working away relentlessly at those areas where improvement is needed. Thank you!
To those who are leaving us to go to pastures new, we wish them everything they could hope for – they have left their mark on ILE Al Khobar Female College, and we are a better place because they were here. For those who are with us next year, I hope you have a superb summer holiday and I look forward so much to seeing you all early August.
So, as I come to the end of a longer letter than I originally intended to write, I extend my grateful thanks to the entire ILE community for the way you continue to support us, our teachers and our students. I also wish you all an excellent summer, wherever you may be. Here’s looking ahead to 2017-18.
With very best wishes
